IN YEAR « SECONDE » 15/16 YRS

A structure of subject level groups also known as G.N.M. (Groups de niveaux matières) (in mathematics, physics, German, English and Spanish) and a points system to evaluate progress and training (in practically all the disciplines) is aimed to the pupils to perfect their course studies and to maintain regular monitoring. The pupils in « seconde » are advised to stay within the school walls in-between classes. They are under the supervision of the supervisors.

IN YEAR « PREMIÈRE & TERMINALE » 16/17 YRS & 17/18 YRS

Each week supervised homework is scheduled, this is also known as « Devoirs Surveillés » which is evaluated. Twice a year all the pupils sit mock exams. The written exams are carried out during three consecutive days. Language orals are also scheduled at this time. All the mock results are transmitted to the families.

INTELLECTUALLY, ADVANCED CHILDREN

After completing an I.Q. test the child is invited to discuss their objectives and determine the best programme for them.

YOUNG SPORTS ENTHUSIASTS

The « Lycée » welcomes all young sports enthusiasts with potential. Their class timetable can be adjusted to fit in a daily training programme. St. Joseph has an on going partnership with the HAC - Football for the last 10 years.

YEAR « SECONDE », THERE ARE 3 CLASSES WITH EACH A SPECIFIC PROFILE

The « seconde VII » class
This class is for pupils who are highly effective in all disciplines. Their course is primarily scientific. Further teaching beyond the curriculum is possible. As well as this the pupils receive complementary studies (drama, Communication & multimedia studies).

The « seconde VIII » class or « seconde byron »
This class is for pupils who follow the European section in English. They study to obtain « la mention européene » for the baccalaureate (final examination)

The « seconde IX » class (British International section)
A British international section opened at the beginning of the school year in 2003. This section prepares for the O.I.B. (Option Internationale du Baccalauréat).

These same class profiles continue in to the « première and terminale » years.

In September 2006 a new section was opened called Kepler class which is a European section in German language. The non linguistic class is Mathematic.
