In «cinquième, quatrième & troisième »
The pupils who have a particularly high potential, they can earn a place in a class where they would be suited to develop further. This is
class « J ».
In « quatrième & troisième »
Some classes and particular groups are reserved for pupils with learning difficulties and those who need to strengthen their knowledge during the final two years of « collège ». The number of these classes is limited. The teachers adapt their teaching to the pupil’s needs. Alternate classes can be proposed. It is also possible to sit in on a couple of ½ day sessions in the Lycée to gain an appreciation of the technological and professional subjects.
Young sports enthusiasts
The « Collège » supports all sports enthusiasts with potential and can adjust their timetable to allow a regular training programme. St. Joseph has an ongoing partnership with the HAC-Football training centre.
Intellectually, advanced children
After completing an I.Q. test the child is invited to discuss their programme and will then follow a course in in the group known as class « A », from the sixième up until the « troisième » (except in some particular cases), meaning « groupes forts » in the basic disciplines. These classes propose diverse, complementary activities known as « à projets ».

From « sixième » onwards
A British international section is now open from the sixième. The section welcomes foreign as well as French pupils to be taught by French and foreign teachers alike.
In « sixième », the bilingual section (English / German)
This section’s objective is to allow pupils interested in modern languages and already have a good level of English, to develop their knowledge further. This section also allows the pupils, who wish to, enter into the German or English , European section in « quatrième ». This bilingual section continues in « cinquième ».
In « quatrième » & « troisième »
The European sections in the English and German language. The pupils benefit extra hours of teaching in their chosen language. There are some privileges when learning another language and it’s culture. An assistant native speaker actively participates in classes on a regular basis. A minimum of one foreign exchange visit is organised. The pupils sit in the classes during their visit. A number of activities are organised within and outside of the school, such as the foreign week, the celebrations of « special days », theatrical and musical activities, exchanges via Internet, multimedia workshops. These classes maintain a continuity with the Lycée.
